Grants and Aid

professional education for teachers, and grants for students’ PROJECTS

Sometimes, we all just need a little bit of help to reach our objectives or chase our dreams. The Okanagan Learning Foundation provides grants to support projects that further education or improve mental health, and to support educators pursuing professional development.

If you have a project or field trip that will benefit students in grades seven through grade twelve - contact us: we’d like to help.

“Thank you the Okanagan Learning Foundation for the grant. We were able to take two classes to the Kamloops Residential School on Thursday, April 13. The experience was powerful, and our tour guide was an incredible resource of stories and knowledge… The students have some powerful insights after this experience.”
- Deanna Meredith, Teacher, Vernon Secondary School

“This year we requested some support for our Sr. Boys basketball team. They had the highest finish in recent memory and narrowly missed out on advancing to the AA Boys Provincial Championship. We appreciate the support of the Okanagan Learning Foundation as we support students to remain actively involved in the academic and athletic pursuits.”
- Jeff Huggins, Principal, Kalamalka Secondary School

“Good day, Amazing People of the Okanagan Learning Foundation!
As the year comes to a close and my grade six and seven students reflect on our year, it has become incredibly obvious that your generous grants have left a lasting impact on all of us. … these experiences changed the lives of my students forever. Invaluable. I am grateful beyond words for your generosity and the willingness to support young people in the outdoors and ultimately in stronger mental health.”
- Tom Craik, Teacher, Ellison Elementary School

“Dear Okanagan Learning Foundation (Tracey and Team!)
We are pleased to report the success of our Teen Night on May 26, 2023. … We were able to purchase a new axe throwing game and rent a slushie machine with the $500 you provided us with! Both were huge hits with the participants.”
- Kris Fuller, Executive Director, Vernon Winter Carnival

“The “School of Rock” in Clarence Fulton Secondary is greatly indebted to the Okanagan Learning Foundation’s funding for our inaugural year of the program. The School of Rock was set up for secondary students of music who already have strong performance skills and/or past experience in performance arts. … Thank you for your generous donation to the program. It was an honour to work with these dedicated, focussed and talented musicians this past year. It was a lot of time and effort to ensure they felt confident, capable and ready to rock n’ roll!”
- Steve Smith, Teacher, Clarence Fulton Secondary School

Hi Steph, we did it! The mobile classroom is rolling. We’ve purchased 30 Beach Cruisers, helmets, cable locks, and a few other accessories from Sun Country Cycle, who have treated us royally with generous pricing and first class service.

Thank-you so much for your support. We feel very lucky.

In June we certified 5 teachers as trip leaders with Cycling Canada, and will certify another group in a few weeks. Our goal is to provide teachers in every department at Fulton, the opportunity to open the doors of their classroom to the community. Watch for us around town!
