Teenagers and Mental Health

SUPPORT FOR PROGRAMS HELPING TEENAGERS MANAGE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH

We see an increasing need for programs to help teenagers working to cope with their mental health. The Okanagan Learning Foundation is supporting counsellor-led student groups, and have provided grants to help pay the cost of training for counsellors, and treatment programs for disordered eating. We have three counsellors serving students in a private setting at our office in Vernon.

The resiliency training gave our staff the tools to use not only in classroom but also for their own personal mental health. This year we saw more kids attending regularly, doing their work, and fighting the urge to give up. …

Thank you so much for the monetary contribution to our students and teachers. We really appreciate your support.

SUPPORT FOR AN Annual Mental Health focused conference for youth

The Okanagan Learning Foundation supported a conference for W.L. Seaton grade 9 students in 2023 focused on mental health awareness and community supports. In 2025, the Foundation plans to do the same with grade 9 students at another Vernon Secondary School.
